The Internet Is A Tool

I think the problem I have is that I forgot the internet is a tool and instead I view it as an entertainment device. There is nothing wrong with owning a hacksaw, as long as you pull it out only when you need it and put it away when you don’t need it. I think my issue is that I never put the internet away. It’s always out, always there, and always being interacted with.

I’m trying to be more intentional with my net.usage these days, because I know only too well how easy it is to fall down the rabbit-hole.

I am aware that I tend to skim articles more these days. One solution would be to force myself to enter Reader Mode so that distractions are removed. Another, which I’m trying out again, is to save links to Todoist as items to review the following day, and mark them as either Read, Comment or Blogging.

I definitely don’t want to go back to the way I used the Internet in the 90’s. Dial-up was both slow and unreliable.
