Start of a new career path

As the subtitle of my blog states, I’m a ‘wearer of many hats’. A more accurate description might be that I’ve become pretty proficient in a lot of things over the years — software development, graphic design, web design, audio/video editing, CD/DVD authoring, technical support and system administration — but without feeling that I’d found my calling in life. That’s not to say that I never enjoyed those roles, far from it! But in all honesty, I’ve drifted through my adult life without any real plan.

So it’s perhaps ironic that the one thing that I’m really good at has been staring me in the face for the last few years. Writing, or more specifically editing and proofreading.

Yesterday I took the first steps towards building on those skills to make what I hope will be both mentally and financially rewarding. Of course, I can also leverage some of my other skills along the way to bolster my efforts. Who knows, I might end up getting stuff published in my own name, not just polishing other folk’s words?
