Citizenship is not a commodity

Richard Murphy argues that the case of Shamima Begum, the UK girl who ran away to Syria to join Daesh and now wants to return, and UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid’s decision to deprive her of her UK citizenship, has more to do with a cynical desire to break the link between citizenship of a country and obligation to that country than it does to national security.
