Next Saturday is going to be tough. It’ll be six months since my dad passed away. On the other hand, there’s a neat symmetry. He left just after the shortest day, the Winter Solstice. I’m not a pagan, but that gave me some comfort.
We scattered my dad’s ashes today, at a local public garden he loved to visit.
Today would have been my dad’s 80th birthday.
I’ll be spending time with mum.
So 2018 is now in the rear-view mirror—and good riddance to it. While I did make some progress on personal stuff last year, it was overshadowed by my Dad’s terminal illness and the stress and strain of caring for him.
